A Little Getaway To Kloofzicht Estate In Tulbagh

A Little Getaway To Kloofzicht Estate In Tulbagh

I was feeling nostalgic and homesick for Tulbagh, so Lisa from www.onemodernmom.wordpress.com and I decided to pack up our boys and go have some down time in the beautiful Tulbagh Valley. We left after school on a Monday in time to coincide with the boys naps.

We had booked in to the magical Kloofzicht Farm.  just before the town of Tulbagh. After about a minute on a dirt road we arrived at these beautiful majestic black gates that swung open to let us in to our home for the next three days. We were greeted by the very lovely housekeeper who showed us around the farmhouse and pointed us in the direction of our rooms. There are 5 incredibly spacious double bedrooms in the main house, all with very generous(i.e. you can fit my whole house in one)bathrooms. My bedroom had a king sized bed with beautiful linen and a bathroom with a bath and shower. The towels were fluffy and white and the pillows just how I like them. The bed was a perfect bed for a co-sleeping mama and her two year old baba.

The kitchen is every foodies dream. We had very cleverly ordered a Ucook  box(seriously guys this is the best way to do self catering) and there was every appliance etc to cook it all with. The oven is huge and the stove top gas. I could just sit at the long wooden farmhouse table all day long. But, as being mamas to very busy two year olds we spent most of our time exploring the outdoors. There is a spectacular 14m swimming pool which was too cold to swim in and thankfully the boys did not go near it. Even so, we never took our eyes of either of them. Elijah is doing so well in his swimming lessons and can swim a length of the schools’ pool by himself but he is still far from being water safe.

We all ran and played all over the beautiful gardens and we were so grateful for the space and the peace and the peace and quite on the farm. And of course it was the perfect spot to take lovely photographs. The boys were so active in the day that come night-time they both just passed out and Lisa and I got to have a gin and tonic each night and take in the beauty of our surroundings.

We were all so sad to go but I am so grateful to have been able to go back to my beautiful Tulbagh and have some downtime and just connect with my friends there. And of course  to spend time away relaxing with our special friends Lisa and Olly.

Tulbagh we can not wait to go back.
